LEGAZPI CITY — A still unidentified member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter in Ragay town in Camarines Sur Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Rommel Tino, acting chief of the Ragay police, said in a phone interview that while Army troops were conducting combat patrol, they encountered an undetermined number of NPAs in Barangay (village) Salvacion about 5 p.m.
Tino said a report received from the military showed that the firefight between the soldiers and the rebels lasted for 30 minutes.
The body of the alleged rebel was recovered during clearing operations at around 8:16 p.m.
