Duterte welcomes US, China help vs militants in Marawi
DAVAO CITY – President Duterte has recognized rivals United States and China for providing help in the fight against Islamic State-inspired terrorists in Marawi City, adding Russia has also signified to extend assistance.
Speaking before Filipino-American tourists who were in a visit here, Mr. Duterte said the country would abide by the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty between Manila and Washington as the country reached out to non-traditional allies.
While highlighting America’s help in fighting IS-affiliated terrorists, the President took a swipe at former President Barack Obama for the latter’s criticism of his bloody war on drugs.
