BAGUIO CITY, Benguet—A Magnitude 3.6 earthquake rocked Mt. Province at 2:53 a.m. on Saturday (July 8), but left no damages nor casualties, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported here.
The quake was tectonic in origin, and the shift was detected 11 kilometers beneath the surface. Philvolcs does not expect any aftershocks to take place.
The temblor occurred 8 days before the 27th commemoration of the July 16, 1990 Luzon earthquake which devastated Baguio City. Baguio is about 155 kms from Mt Province capital town of Bontoc, which Philvolcs described as the epicenter of the latest quake.
