Member of pro-IS Ansar al Khilafah arrested in General Santos City

DAVAO CITY – Central Mindanao police arrested a suspected member of the pro-Islamic State Ansar al Khilafah Philippines (AKP) during an operation in General Santos City on Tuesday.

Senior Supt.  Maximo Layugan, the General Santos police chief, said Abdulazis Mangambit alias Ram-ram Tungan was among those included in the Arrest Order No. 2 issued by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the Martial Law administrator.

Mangambit, who was arrested in Barangay Calumpang here, was among AKP members involved in grenade attacks in Maasim and Kiamba towns in Sarangani province a few years ago, Layugan said.

Mangambit was still undergoing interrogation, Layugan added. GAL
