As the world watched in horror as terrorists attacked in London, Manchester, Iran and elsewhere, the boy of Aleppo, Syria, has reemerged.

He sports a new haircut and looks happy in the company of his father. A far cry from the images of his blood and dust-covered face that riveted the world a year ago, no thanks to the government forces that besieged Aleppo.

What’s worrisome, though, is that he and his family have appeared in TV interviews on news channels that back Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

His father said he had his son’s hair cropped and his name changed so no one would recognize him, according to a New York Times News Services story.

“I stayed in Syria. This is my country, where I grew up and lived, and my children will grow up in it,” he said.
