4 cops injured in ambush of police convoy in Lanao del Norte

ILIGAN CITY – Unidentified armed men ambushed a convoy of police vehicles in Barangay Payawan in Pantar, Lanao del Norte around 7 p.m. Saturday.

At least four police officers were confirmed wounded and were brought to a hospital here, police sources said.

The Inquirer checked the hospital where the wounded police officers were brought to but was not allowed to go in.

However, hospital staff confirmed that the four patients rushed there on police vehicles were wounded police officers.

The sources, who requested anonymity for lack of authority to speak on the matter, said the convoy came from Marawi City and were heading towards this city when fired at. –Richel Umel /atm
