School opening to proceed June 5

/ 04:40 AM May 26, 2017

The June 5 school opening in public and private institutions will push through as scheduled despite the declaration of martial law in strife-torn Mindanao.

The Department of Education (DepEd) said public elementary and high schools in the region must be kept neutral and maintained as “zones of peace.”

The DepEd said public schools would not be used as evacuation centers.

According to the DepEd, the Mindanao State University and the provincial capitol will serve as refuge for evacuees in Marawi City.
