Two children die in fire at Quezon province
MANILA, Philippines—A four-year-old boy and his one-year-old sister died after being trapped in their burning house in Tagkawayan, Quezon province, a police report said Monday.
According to the report, the victims were burned in their nipa hut made of light materials in Sitio Kiapoy, Brgy. Sto Tomas at around 2 p.m. Sunday.
However, live-in partners Erick Lopez Bo, 45, and Teresa Lopez Elvira, 39, only reported of the incident to the Tagkawayan police later that day at around 7:30 p.m.
The report said that Elvira left the two children in the house when the fire broke out. It said that she decided to leave to gather fire woods Sunday afternoon.
She only found out that her house got burned when she returned, the report said.
Investigators said that an estimated P30,000 worth of properties were destroyed.

The report also said that further investigations are still being conducted by the arson investigator.
