15-year- old boy killed in Tondo fire

A 15-year-old boy died in a fire that reached the fifth alarm and engulfed about 30 houses in the shanties of Isla Putting Bato in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday morning.

According to a report by Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Chief Insp. Marvin Carbonel, chief of the operations division of the Manila Fire District, identified the fatality as Froilan de la Cruz.

The fire was reportedly caused by a leaking LPG tank in the victim’s residence. It reached fifth alarm at 11:26 a.m. and was declared under control at 12:24 p.m.

Carbonel said about 70 families were displaced by the blaze, while damage to property was pegged at P200,000. –Yuji Vincent Gonzales with reports from Radyo Inquirer 990AM. /atm/rga
