CITY OF ILAGAN, ISABELA—As many as 44 men were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in raid on a suspected jueteng safehouse in Bliss Village on Friday.

Wielding a search warrant, Timoteo Rejano, raiding team leader of the NBI Isabela office, said they found assorted jueteng paraphernalia and a still undetermined amount of money at the house. Jueteng is an illegal numbers game.

The NBI did not disclose the identity of the house’s owner, but said the structure also served as a raffle center for an online numbers game operating in Cagayan province.

The NBI have not released the names of the suspects, who are detained at the Isabela Provincial Jail.

Rejano said more raids would be conducted in Isabela towns following a directive to clamp down on illegal gambling.
