Authorities looking for leads in abduction of Marawi students
ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte—Police and military authorities on Friday said they were still clueless on the whereabouts of the four persons, two of them children, abducted by unidentified armed men just outside the Dansalan College Foundation in Barangay (village) Marinaut in Marawi City on Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, information chief of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga del Sur, Mobarak Cosain, 14; Hanifah Saripada, 12; and their two adult companions had just arrived at the gates of the school when snatched by the suspects, who were on a grey Toyota Avanza.
“Witnesses said the suspects wore face masks and were carrying high-powered firearms,” he said.
Senior Supt. Oscar Nantes, Lanao del Sur police director, said they still had no particular suspects. They also had no information as to the location of the victims, he said.
Nantes said the police had talked to the parents of the two minors but they did not cooperate with investigators./rga
