Youth rise up in CPP ranks

Less than a hundred supporters of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) held a lightning rally in Mendiola Friday morning to show their support to the end of the underground movement’s second congress.

Liliosa Sumilang, spokesperson of the CCP’s Metro Manila chapter, called the just concluded congress a success as it saw mostly young members take up to the task of continuing the nearly five-decade fight of the revolutionary movement as they rise up to become leaders of its central committee.

“The second congress presented a clearer picture of its analysis of the concrete conditions of Philippine society, and its national democratic line and program for waging a people’s democratic revolution,” she said.

Among the supporters who joined in the rally were at least 10 kids no older than 15 years old.

The group’s program at the intersection of Mendiola and Recto Avenue, which started with a march from Bustillos Street, lasted for barely 20 minutes but caused a traffic standstill in the area.

This is the second time this week that supporters of the CPP held a lightning rally at a busy metro road. On Monday, they held a similar program in Cubao, Quezon City during rush hour. JE
