2 armed men kill 5, injure 4 in Zamboanga Sibugay
ZAMBOANGA CITY—Five persons were killed while four others were injured when two men, armed with automatic rifles, opened fire on a group of men and women at an automotive repair shop in Kabasalan town, Zamboanga Sibugay province on Thursday.
Superintendent William Gadayan, the commander of the the Zamboanga Sibugay police’s Public Safety Company said 9 persons (six males and three females) were having a drinking session at the Donton Repair Shop at the back of the Payao Municipal Police Station in Barangay Cainglet when the two men, riding in tandem, arrived around 10:45 p.m.
Gadayan said the armed men opened fire at the victims using M16 rifles.
Instantly killed were Emeristo Bastasa, Raymart Tena, Asser Mangan, and a certain Calib-ug. Delia Pagador died upon reaching the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Hospital in Ipil town.
“Four others are critically wounded. The investigation is continuing to determine the motive and identities of suspects,” Gadayan said.
