Fare hike for jeepneys to take effect Friday, Feb. 10
The approved provisional increase of minimum jeepney fare to P8 in Metro Manila and Regions 3 and 4 will take effect on 12:01 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
In a statement, the LTFRB also reminded jeepney operators to post a notice of provisional fare increase in their public utility vehicles “that would be conspicuously seen by the riding public.”
The provisional jeepney fare increase, approved by the LTFRB on Monday, will be effective only in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and the Southern Tagalog Region.
The succeeding rate per kilometer for jeepneys would remain at P1.50, the LTFRB said.
The flag-down rate in taxis in Metro Manila, Cebu, Panay and other areas where the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association is present has also been reverted to P40. CBB
