‘Bising slows’; no landfall expected

Tropical Depression “Bising” wasn’t expected to make landfall in the Philippines, but was expected to stay in the country’s area of responsibility until next week, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Pagasa said Bising had slightly slowed down from 13 to 11 kilometers per hour, and began moving  northwest.

By  Saturday noon, the center of the tropical depression was estimated to be 515 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The tropical depression was expected to be 405 km east-northeast of Hinatuan on Sunday, and outside the Philippine area of responsibility, 1,150 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, by Thursday.

No storm signals had been raised, but Bising was packing maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.  Rainfall was still expected to be moderate to occasionally heavy within the 300-kilometer diameter of the tropical cyclone.
