Truck rams 10 vehicles, leaves girl dead, 5 injured
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—A 16-year-old girl was killed and five passengers were injured on Friday when a mixer truck rammed 10 vehicles in Lubao town in Pampanga.
Michaela Jimenez died at the Saint Joseph of Remedios Hospital in Lubao. She was riding in a tricycle driven by her mother Ana, which was involved in the 9 a.m. accident that slowed down traffic in the Sta. Cruz stretch of the Jose Abad Santos Avenue until 3 p.m.
The mixer truck (with plate number RJM381) sped up and barrelled toward several vehicles waiting for the red light to turn green, according to a report from Supt. Michael Masangkay, Lubao police chief.
The truck collided with four vehicles that stopped along the outer lane of Sta. Cruz Bridge, and six vehicles which stopped along the inner lane, Masangkay said. Seven of these vehicles overturned due to the impact.
The accident injured Consolacion Macaspac, Jenalyn Dimacali, Rogelio Salvador, Florendo Manuel and Ermin Troy Roxas.
The truck was registered to the Golden Mix Concrete Plant based in the Pampanga capital of San Fernando, and was driven by Cesar Sabanate, 29.
