Aussie gov’t funds new DSWD warehouse in Pasay

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has opened a new relief goods warehouse in Pasay City built through a P104-million (A$3 million) grant from Australia. Located within the DSWD national relief operations center, the new structure has a floor area of 720 square meters and can store 41,400 boxes of family food packs, increasing the center’s warehousing capacity by a third.  Since 2006, the Australian government has contributed to the Philippines  about P3.26 billion in humanitarian aid. —Dona Z. Romanian nabbed in Makati ATM hacking

A Romanian national was arrested in Makati City on Wednesday for trying to withdraw cash from an automated teller machine (ATM) using a skimming device. The police identified the suspect as Iulian Cristian Pintilie, 34, who was billeted at Red Planet Hotel on Urban Street, Barangay Pio del Pilar. Pintilie was caught withdrawing using forged cards and a skimming device at a BPI ATM on Salcedo Street, Legaspi Village, at 11:43 a.m. He was arrested by members of the Makati Police Community Precinct 5 led by Senior Insp.
