PDP-Laban eyes expansion before 2019 midterm polls–Alvarez

The ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), political party of President Rodrigo Duterte, is looking forward to strengthen its national and grassroots presence before the 2019 elections, according to Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

Speaking at PDP-Laban’s thanksgiving party at Midas Tent in Pasay City, Alvarez said the party seeks to recruit more members in the barangay level in time for the midterm polls.

“Mga kasama magkakaroon po ng reorganization ang partido PDP at magkakaroon ng national assembly sa susunod na taon upang sa ganun ating i-ratify yung ating constitution and by-laws, at dito po ay gagawin po natin ay magkakaroon ng miyembro ang PDP hanggang sa bawat barangay level,” Alvarez said in his speech.

Alvarez said PDP-Laban will field candidates from the position of senator, congressmen, governors, mayors, down to barangay officials in the 2019 elections.

The Davao del Norte lawmaker also thanked PDP-Laban members for their continued support of the party leadership and President Duterte.

“Ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa ating tagumpay na tayo ay nakapagpaluklok ng isang presidente sa Pilipinas na walang iba kundi ang ating Presidente Rodrigo Duterte. Ilang araw pa man na nanunungkulan ngunit kita na natin yung pagbabago sa ating bayan. Sana po ay patuloy tayong sumuporta sa kanyang liderato at patuloy po nating palakasin ang ating partido sa PDP,” Alvarez said.

“So magtulong-tulong po tayo upang sa ganun ang ating partido ay manatiling malakas at lalo pa nating palakasin,” he added./rga
