‘Amihan’ to bring light rains
Expect a wet start to the weekend, with the northeast monsoon (“amihan”) continuing to bring light rains over northern and central Luzon, as well as Metro Manila, and isolated showers and storms in Visayas and Mindanao.
In its 24-hour public weather advisory issued at 5 p.m. Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomic Services Administration (Pagasa) forecast cloudy skies with light rains over the regions of Cordillera and Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is also expected over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon. Thunderstorms are also expected over Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said.
Pagasa is also monitoring a new storm. As of Friday afternoon, tropical storm “Ma-On” was sighted at 3,130 kilometers east of northern Luzon, moving west-northwest at 25 km per hour, packing winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
