Pangilinan, formerly LP vice president, succeeded former Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya who had been acting LP president since former Interior Secretary and former presidential candidate Mar Roxas went on leave as party president in 2014.

“I am humbled by the designation. I realize the weight of the position and I accept the responsibilities it entails. I am responding to this call to serve the people,” said Pangilinan. —CHRISTINE O. AVENDAÑO
