Vimar Espiritu, 31, a member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang, was sleeping with his partner past midnight of Oct. 1 when unidentified men shot him repeatedly inside his house in St. Peter Talipapa, Barangay 179, Zone 19.
Three days later, a drug suspect identified only as “Norpip” was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest following a buy-bust operation while his companion, an alias “Chocho,” fled on a motorcycle.
Case investigator PO2 Christopher Nero said the two men sped off on a motorcycle from F.B. Harrison Street toward Roxas Boulevard after a policeman who posed as a buyer tried to arrest them.
A chase ensued, with Norpip falling off the motorcycle while Chocho drove off. Instead of surrendering, however, Norpip reportedly opened fire at members of the Southern Police District’s Anti-Illegal Drugs unit.
A shoot-out broke out, leaving him dead.
