Zamboanga del Norte governor ordered suspended
The Office of the Ombudsman has announced its second suspension of a Mindanao governor this week: that of Zamboanga del Norte’s Roberto Uy.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales ordered Uy suspended for one month for failing to act right away on the letters and indorsements regarding an administrative assistant’s back pay.
Records showed that Uy took two months before informing the employee that his claims were referred to the provincial legal officer.
Morales held Uy guilty of violating Section 5(a) of the Code of Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (Republic Act No. 6713), which required officials to respond to letters in 15 working days.
Uy was already ordered suspended for three months in June for the illegal dismissal of six probationary employees when he assumed office in 2013.
