SMC opens 2,000-hectare industrial estate in Davao Occidental

DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — San Miguel Corporation on Monday opened up its 2,000-hectare industrial estate in Malita, Davao Occidental, to potential investors and locators.

“San Miguel Corp. is inviting potential investors to locate their facilities (in Malita),” the company said.

The facility, the company said in a statement, was approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and was part of San Miguel’s “commitment to develop second-tier areas through industrial development, investment and employment generation.”

The company said the Malita industrial estate was strategically located “with easy access via Davao City and General Santos City airports and ports.”

It said that the industrial estate also has a 20-meter deep seaport that can accommodate container vessels.

San Miguel said it would offer potential investors and locators “generous investment incentives” along with “affordable, stable and reliable water and power supply.”

San Miguel has been building a 600-megawatt coal fired plant in the town, which is expected to be commissioned in a few months.

Davao Occidental Gov. Claude Bautista told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone that potential investors and locators to the San Miguel industrial estate would be assured of the availability of a growing skilled and developed workforce living in various areas of the province.
