Girl battling leukemia needs P65K for chemo

WHEN Allyza Nacino was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in October 2014, she underwent chemotherapy almost every day.
“It was difficult to be away from home for the first time because we stayed in the hospital for a month,” Allyza’s father, Alberto Nacino, a 32-year-old construction worker, told the Inquirer.
He said he left his other daughter in the care of his mother in Nueva Ecija so that he could focus his attention on Allyza.
Now 4 years old, Allyza is doing much better and her doctors at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center say that based on further tests, she may need to undergo chemotherapy either every two weeks or just once a month.
“It is less painful for Allyza but more expensive on our part because it is a 12-cycle program nonetheless. But we got here and for that I am grateful. Allyza has survived so this is not the time to give up,” Nacino said.
According to him,
Allyza will start her fourth chemotherapy cycle on Aug. 19. Nacino ask Inquirer readers to help them so they may be able to raise the P65,554 needed for the procedure.
