EFREN “Bata” Reyes’  amazing run came to an end yesterday as he suffered back-to-back losses in the ongoing 2011 US Open 10-Ball championship at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Reyes, former WPA World 9-ball and 8-ball champion, succumbed to Jonathan Pinegar of the USA in the fifth round of the winners bracket and bowed to David Alcaide of Spain in their do-or-die match in the losers bracket.

After three straight wins in the losers brackets against Matt Krah, Jesse Engel and Corey Harper of the USA, another ex-WPA World 9-ball ruler in Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan also bowed out after losing to 2008 World Ten Ball kingpin Darren Appleton of Great Britain.

Aside from Reyes and Pagulayan, also eliminated earlier were compatriots Jose “Amang” Parica and Jun Almoite. /Correspondent Marlon Bernardino
