Dumaguete pawnshop owner killed
CITY, Negros Oriental, Philippines—A businessman who owned a string of pawnshops in this city was shot dead by a lone gunman in Sibulan town, also in this province, on Thursday morning, the police said.
Demetrio Larena III, 65, was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant as he was driving his Pajero sports utility vehicle in Barangay (village) Campaclan, Sibulan, some seven kilometers north of this city at about 9 a.m., Thursday, police investigators reported.
Larena owned the Agencia Carmen pawnshops in Dumaguete and was an active member of the Rotary Club Dumaguete.
Police investigation of the murder is in progress.
