3 Abu Sayyaf members killed in Sulu clash with gov’t troops
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—Three Abu Sayyaf members were killed while 26 others combatants—16 of them government soldiers—were wounded in a clash in Sulu on Tuesday.
Major Filemon Tan Jr., the spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command, said the clash started at 2:20 p.m. in Sitio Bud Duwa Bayho in Pansul village in Patikul town.
“The firefight lasted for one hour and 30 minutes. The Abu Sayyaf bandits scampered toward different locations during the heavy gun battle,” Tan said.
The wounded government troops had been evacuated to the Trauma Hospital in Jolo town, he added. TVJ
