Fire razes over 400 houses in Isabela City
ZAMBOANGA CITY — Over 400 houses were razed during a fire that lasted for about three hours in Isabela City on Saturday.
No deaths or injuries had been reported in the aftermath of the fire that hit Barangay Kaumpurnah starting past 11a.m., according to Senior Superintendent Oscar Nantes, the Basilan police director.
However, Nantes said almost 500 families were left homeless.
“We proceeded to the fire scene while members of the Search and Rescue Team led by Police Inspector Abullah mobilized the rescue. The teams assisted the safety of lives and properties of evacuees as well as security and assistance,” Nantes said.
He said the fire was put under control past 1 p.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection was still investigating the cause of the fire and to determine the actual damage, he said. JE
