Remulla: No post sought, offered

/ 12:15 AM June 15, 2016

KAWIT, Cavite—Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla said he did not receive any offer to sit in the Cabinet of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte despite his family’s support for Duterte.

Remulla was among the local officials who rallied behind Duterte.

The campaign period for the presidential election this year started with Remulla being one of the staunchest allies and spokespersons of Vice President Jejomar Binay. In one of his campaign sorties, Binay had said he preferred Remulla to head the Department of the Interior and Local Government should he win the presidency.

But the Remullas, who lead the Partido Magdalo, Cavite’s leading local political party, defected from Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance to support Duterte with a little over a week into the May 9 election. In an interview on Sunday, Remulla said he met with Duterte in Davao City three weeks ago. He said he went there only to congratulate and wish the next President well.
