Cop shoots wife before killing self in Maguindanao
COTABATO CITY, Philippines—A police officer assigned with the Regional Highway Patrol Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RHPG-ARMM) shot dead his police-wife Thursday following a heated argument inside their home in Parang, Maguindanao, then killed himself, authorities said Friday.
Senior Inspector Arnold Bulosan, Parang police chief, identified the slain couple as Police Officer 3 Ariel Macadaan and his wife PO3 Mariles Cuprada Macadaan.
Senior Police Officer 4 Taha Enok of HPG-ARMM said PO3 Mariles was the unit’s finance officer while her husband was an HPG team leader.
The couple had two children aged four and two.
Quoting witnesses, Bulosan said, the couple had a heated argument over a still undetermined issue in their house in Barangay (village) Nituan. He said witnesses had told investigators the tiff between the couple started last Wednesday.
Investigation showed that at 5 a.m. on Thursday, the couple argued anew. Mariles’ father, Jimmy Cuprada, who lived next to the Macadaan house, said he rushed to pacify the couple after hearing a gunshot.
