Former village official stabbed dead in Laguna
MANILA, Philippines—A former village official was stabbed dead in Nagcarlan, Laguna, on Tuesday, a police official said Wednesday.
Rito Javier, 53, was sitting in front of a cooperative office in Barangay (village) Talahib in Nagcarlan, Laguna, at around 11:30 a.m. when he was attacked allegedly by Anthony Baluya, 24, said Chief Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna’s provincial police director.
Javier died on the spot, with stab wounds on his neck, Cruz said.
The suspect, whose motive for killing the former barangay official was still unknown, remained at large.
Cruz said that tracker teams had gone to some mountainous parts of Barangay Talahib in search of the suspect.—Karen Boncocan
