NAGA CITY—Vice presidential candidate Camarines Sur Rep. Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo has been a very articulate woman since her days in Congress, especially now that she’s running for the second highest seat in the land.

Most memorably her “the last man standing is a woman” stirred many souls and after casting her vote on Monday, the fierce but calm Bicolana is in high spirits.

Asked if she’s confident in her ranking in the vice presidential race, Robredo gave a firm “yes.”

Robredo is the leader in the last election survey but she’s statistically tied with political rival Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

She added that casting her vote at Precinct 119 of Tabuco Elementary School was a huge sigh of relief.

“Relieved na kasi tapos na, parang mas nilulook forward ko na more than the result itself, yung oras para magpasalamat,” Robredo said pertaining to her supporters especially in Naga.

(I’m relieved because it’s over, I’m looking forward to thank [the people] more than the result itself.)

While holding the lead at the end of the surveys may not mean something if it does not translate into votes, Robredo is confident that the lead is still something to hold on in the hotly contested vice presidential race.

Robredo garnered a 30 percent rating in the ABS-CBN-sponsored poll that was conducted from April 26 to 29.

Marcos was at 28 percent but a margin of error of plus minus two put them in a statistical tie.
