Grace Poe victory will vindicate me, FPJ, says Mayor Estrada
With Fernando Poe Jr. cheated of the presidency and him “illegally” ousted from his office, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said Sen. Grace Poe’s should win the presidency to vindicate them.
Estrada, a former actor and close friend of Poe’s late father, another movie king popularly known as FPJ, brought Poe on Thursday to the Baseco compound, one of the poorest areas in Metro Manila, telling his supporters he could guarantee that the senator had a heart for the poor and was “more intelligent than him and FPJ.”
“I was ousted, [FPJ] was cheated. We had similar fates. That’s why we need Grace Poe to remedy what FPJ and I went through. Maybe she will replace the two of us,” Estrada said.
He was referring to FPJ’s loss in the 2004 presidential race, which was marred by a cheating scandal after his opponent, then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, was wiretapped asking an election commissioner about her lead in the polls.
