USJ-R places first in search for eco-friendly schools in CV
THE University of San Jose-Recoletos high school department’s Win on Waste (Wow) program made history when it bagged the first place in the search for the eco-friendly schools in Central Visayas.
Win on Waste chairman Rev. Fr. Raul Buhay, OAR, and high school principal Rosalinda Enario received the award during the 1st Environmental Edu-Congress last Sept. 28 at the Eco-Tech Center in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
Elizabeth Sestoso of USJ-R introduced the winners, who presented Wow’s best practices through presentations and exhibit.
The congress, organized by the collaborative efforts of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas-Environmental Management Bureau, Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education and Smart Communications Inc., aimed to accelerate and promote environmental education in Central Visayas.
The activity was also organized to ensure the integration and implementation of environmental awareness and education programs in all levels of school curricula.
The Wow management team members are Dr. Julieta Catipay, Dionelyn Orongan and Odever Baylosis.
