Cesafi All-Star event starts today at Cebu Coliseum

THE CAGERS OF THE 2011 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament get one last shot at being chummy with one another before the real battle begins in the semifinals next week, in the All Star Event today starting at 1 p.m. at the Cebu Coliseum.

The All Star games in the juniors and seniors divisions are expected to be the highlight of the affair with the three-point shootout and the slam-dunk competition also helping to add even more spice.

In high school play, the light team will be bannered by players from the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, University of Southern Philippines Foundation, University of San Jose-Recoletos and the Cebu Institute of Technology-University.

Opposing them are the stalwarts from the dark team led by members of the league-leading University of the Visayas and supplemented by aces from reigning champions, Cebu Eastern College, University of San Carlos, Don Bosco and the University of Cebu.

FEATURED STORIES

Over in the college class, the light team is composed of players from UC headed by reigning MVP Junemar Fajardo, USC, USJ-R and CIT-U.

The dark squad, on the other hand, will be led by a quintet from UV, USPF and Southwestern University.

The MVPs of the respective all- star matches will go home with a trophy and a mobile phone from Globe as well as a mouthguard from dentist Dr. Adam Alviar. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
