DYNACAST REGISTERED the shocker of the competition as they dethroned the reigning champions Kia Motors/White Gold, 51-48, in the deciding Game 3 of the best-of-three championship series last Thursday night at the Sacred Heart School basketball court along Mango Avenue.

Dynacast took advantage of the sluggish offense of Kia which got them in a deep hole at halftime, 17-29. Theogene Lim, Walter and Kent Ong anchored the offense of Dynacast in that stretch to give them the lead, which remained at nine, 39-30, heading to the final stretch.

Kia tried to make a go at it behind the exploits of Dennis Que, Chad Canares, Dave Lim and Gio Borromeo with Que’s three-pointer getting them within three, 48-51, with just 17 seconds remaining. However, Canares turned the ball over during a drive in their last possession, giving Dynacast the win.

Kent Ong paced the winning squad with 19 points. Que had 11 while Borromeo tallied 10 for the losing Kia squad, which suffered greatly from the measly seven-point performance of eventual MVP, Lim.
