8 face rape charge in Bacolod
BACOLOD CITY — Police on Thursday filed eight counts of rape against eight suspects for allegedly taking turns in raping an 18-year-old girl last Sunday in barangay Taculing, this city.
Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said the suspects, whose names he withheld, were still at large. One of the suspects is reportedly the boyfriend of the victim.
The victim, whose name the police also withheld, was confined at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for injuries she had sustained.
De la Paz explained there was a confidentiality clause in cases against chastity for both the suspect and the victim. He said the police would not disclose the names of the suspects because of an ongoing manhunt for them.
Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, Women and Children’s Complaints Desk chief, earlier said that the victim’s boyfriend texted her at about 1 a.m. and invited her to come to his place. When the girl arrived at her boyfriend’s house, he was having drinks with friends.
The suspects invited her to join them and when she became intoxicated, they dragged her to a vacant lot four to five kilometers away from the residence and took turns raping her, Cabcaban said. INQUIRER
