Duterte: I won’t let Mindanao down in debate
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte said he was looking forward to seeing the four other candidates in Sunday afternoon’s debates here.
In a press release, Duterte’s camp said the Davao City mayor was still awake at 3 a.m. Sunday, hours before the presidential debates at the Capitol University here.
“I am very excited, but I am also very nervous,” Duterte admitted, adding that it was a very important day for him as a Mindanaoan and as someone who came from the province.
“A very important day for me and for all of us,” he said. “I am a probinsyano, I will be representing Mindanao and the provinces.”

Article continues after this advertisementHe said he was nervous because the other candidates appeared to have prepared well for the Sunday debate.
“I am nervous because I know they are good,” he said.
But Duterte said he was not going to “let Mindanao, the provinces and the Philippines down.”
