San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez backs Bongbong Marcos for VP

Vice presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has secured the support of San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez.

A member of the influential Ejercito-Estrada political clan, Gomez officially endorsed Marcos during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.

Gomez, who was a partner of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, recalled how the Marcoses and the Ejercitos were always there for each other.

“Ang amin pong mga pamilya ay kapwa matagal nang nagsasama. Halos limang dekada na po ang samahan ng pamilyang Marcos at Ejercito,” she said.

Marcos is currently sharing the top spot with Sen. Francis Escudero on the latest Social Weather Stations Survey.

The San Juan City mayor, who earlier expressed support for presidential candidate Mar Roxas, also said she had a difficult time deciding her vice presidential bet.

“Tulad ng pagpili ko kay Secretary Mar Roxas bilang kandidato sa pagkapangulo, naging mahirap po sa akin, kung sino ang aming susuportahan bilang bise-presidente bilang marami po sa kanila ay malapit sa amin,” she said.

But Marcos’ experience in politics and public service stood out among the others, she said.

The son and namesake of the late dictator was also once a resident of San Juan City before his father became president.
