Airport upgrade incoming
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is upgrading the airport here this year to make it a commercial airport in 2019 for Pangasinan, the third most populous province, officials said.
Citing a Jan. 25 letter from retired Brig. Gen. Rodante Joya, CAAP chief financial officer, Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the aviation regulator outlined plans to upgrade the Lingayen Airport.
Espino said the provincial government had bought a 5-hectare lot for the runway expansion.
Joya had informed Espino that the CAAP had evaluated and recommended the development of Lingayen Airport to make it compliant with the requirements of big aircraft operations. Johanne Margarette Macob, Inquirer Northern Luzon
