Early Monday morning raid in Cebu yields drug paraphernalia
CEBU CITY, Philippines—Early Monday morning raid at the male dormitory of the Cebu City jail in Barangay Kalunasan yielded several drug paraphernalia and personal appliances.
Chief Supt. Allan Iral, director of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Central Visayas (BJMP-7), said they recovered tooters and lighters, which were usually used in sniffing shabu (methamphitamine hydrocloride, otherwise known as poor man’s cocaine).
Also recovered were television sets, speakers and some improvised bladed weapons during the operation conducted past 5 a.m. on Monday.
Simultaneous raids were also made in city jails of Mandaue and Lapu-lapu.
“From time to time, we conduct surprise greyhound operation inside jails since there had been several attempts in transporting drugs inside the jail facility,” he said.

“It is important since most of the inmates are drug offenders and we need to apprehend those who might be in possession of cellular phones which might be put to use to continue their drug trade inside,” said Iral. TVJ
