Grace Poe vows not to meddle in judiciary

/ 05:35 AM January 30, 2016

Should she become President, one of the best things she could do for the judiciary is not to meddle in its affairs, according to Sen. Grace Poe.

Poe, at the Meet Inquirer Multimedia Forum on Thursday, said she would allow the judicial process to take its course when it comes to any case that could be filed against President Aquino after his term ends, and when it comes to the pending case against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“The President should never meddle in any judicial process. We should allow the wheels of justice to take its course and the judicial process to be fair. We should allow impartial investigations,” Poe said when asked what would be her position should Mr. Aquino face charges

She was no lawyer, but she thinks it would be hard to file cases against Mr. Aquino, given his anticorruption stance.

“With the President, from what I know, as long as you did not maliciously steal or do anything maliciously—you may have had shortcomings when it comes to your administration, nobody’s blameless—but when it comes to the President, I think it will be difficult for them to have a case against him,” she said.

“I think his strong stance against corruption has given the country unprecedented growth, but it’s not enough,” she added.
