BIFF to continue attacks in bid to remove ‘spent force’ tag—AFP
DESPITE losses in recent military operations, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) will continue their attacks to show that they are still a robust force, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Saturday.
“‘BIFF lightning raids and harassment are still expected following loses incurred in earlier military operations conducted during the last few weeks,” Colonel Restituto Padilla, AFP spokesman, said in a statement.
Padilla said the BIFF “intend to show that they are not yet a spent force following the recent debacles.”
On December 24, the BIFF launched simultaneous attacks in the boundaries of Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat, leaving 14 dead including four rebels.
Padilla said the AFP has “kept these activities localized with its ongoing military operations to hunt down BIFF elements who have perpetrated the recent criminal acts.”
