2 charged over biker’s death

A bus and a jeepney driver are facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide over the death of a 34-year-old man who was killed as he was riding his bike on MacArthur Highway in Malinta, Valenzuela City, on Wednesday afternoon.

SPO2 Tirso Delina of the Valenzuela police station said that Randy Benavides died around 2:30 p.m. after he was ran over by the bus when he fell off his bike following a collision with the jeepney.

He was immediately taken to Valenzuela Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

According to initial investigation, Benavides was riding his bike on the southbound lane when it bumped the jeepney driven by Norberto Gusi, 54.

The victim fell on the road and was ran over by the AC Trans passenger bus driven by Christian Vicente, 26, the police said. Benavides left his live-in partner and their 9-year-old child.
