LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — Thirty persons on an outreach program were reported stranded on Sombrero Island, an islet under the jurisdiction of San Pascual, a mainland town on Burias Island in Masbate. Lieutenant Rosgen Carranza, deputy operations officer of the Naval Forces Southern Luzon based here, said on Tuesday, they received a sketchy report from their Masbate counterpart that the group from a still unknown organization could not leave the island since Sunday when sea travel was prohibited with Typhoon Nona then approaching the Bicol region. At that time Burias Island was under Typhoon Signal Number 3. “We still do not know their identities and where they stayed on the island,” Carranza said on Tuesday morning.  SFM
