Poe supporters to go on info drive over disqualification cases

MANILA, Philippines — A coalition supporting Senator Grace Poe’s candidacy for the presidency has vowed to take their fight to the streets to create awareness that their candidate is still part of the 2016 presidential race.

Rez Cortez, the head of the Adopt Grace Poe Movement, said 12 groups supporting the senator have formed the Galing at Puso Coalition to mobilize their supporters to hold protests and rallies at the Commission and Election and the Supreme Court to raise the awareness of the public of her status as a candidate.

“She’s not disqualified yet,” said Cortez.

​At the same time, Cortez urged Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas, whom he accused of being behind the string of disqualification cases against the senator, to “play fair.”

“I hope Mar plays fair,” said Cortez during a press conference in Intramuros, Manila, on Wednesday.

He claimed that the people who sought Poe’s disqualification were linked to the former secretary of the Department of Interior and Local government​.

Cortez said rallies would be important in making people know that Poe has not been disqualified from the presidential elections with finality.

​Cortez said three more disqualification cases have remained pending at the Comelec and that the Senate Electoral Tribunal ruling upholding Poe’s right to run for president, could still be appealed at the Supreme Court.  SFM
