Manila cop hunted after female detainee cries rape

A Manila policeman has been accused of raping a 21-year-old woman inside the Sampaloc police station where she was detained on trespassing charges.

Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, Manila Police District director, ordered the arrest of PO2 Joel Agbulos after Aileen (not her real name) filed a complaint against him in the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office on

Dec. 3.

Agbulos, who investigated the trespassing complaint against Aileen, has yet to report for work after he found out that she had reported him to his superior, Senior Insp. Joselito de Ocampo, the head of the Sampaloc police station investigation unit.

The alleged victim claimed that aside from raping her inside one of the rooms at the police station, Agbulos also took naked pictures of her on his cell phone and threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about what happened between them.

According to Aileen, she was brought to the Sampaloc police station on Nov. 28 after she was accused of trespassing. Agbulos, she added, was the investigator in charge of her case.

She said that in the middle of the investigation, the policeman and the complainant stepped outside the room. When Agbulos came back, he was alone and he asked her what her plan was. She said that she replied: “Sige, sir, gawan niyo po ng paraan. Ako na po bahala sa inyo (Sir, if you can find a way to fix this, I’ll take care of you).”

Aileen said that the policeman then locked the door and ordered her to go the locker area which she described as a small dark room.

While there, he took naked pictures of her and forced her to give him oral sex, she claimed.

Instead of letting her go, however, Agbulos later brought her to the prosecutor’s office where she was charged with trespassing, Aileen said in her complaint.

She added that on their way to the prosecutor’s office, he told her that he would be taking her to a motel. When she kept quiet, he told her that he was just kidding.

Aileen said that when they returned to the police station, she was detained but after a while, Agbulos asked the jailer to release her.

She claimed that she was again taken to the locker room where she was forced to have sex with him.

According to Aileen, when she asked him to stop, he pointed his gun at her and threatened to kill her and upgrade the charge against her to a graver offense.
