Poe camp on disqualification: There is no ‘Plan B’

/ 07:48 PM December 01, 2015

The camp of Senator Grace Poe said Tuesday night that the fight of the lady senator for the presidency will continue despite the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) 2nd division to disqualify the presidential poll frontrunner.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Poe’s spokesperson Valenzuela City mayor Rex Gatchalian said that their camp will not have a “Plan B” for Poe’s presidential campaign.

“Why would we have a Plan B? We’re getting ahead of ourselves. We’re putting the cart before the horse. This is the first part of the process,” he said.

Poe’s spokesperson said that they will exhaust all legal remedies to appeal the decision.

Gatchalian said that the Comelec sitting en banc will rule in their favor.

“There are seven commissioners and collectively, the majority of those…we are confident that they will see the merits in our position,” he said.

“The question is purely speculative. By us engaging in that line of questioning, parang sinasabi namin na ‘tapos na.’ We will not engage in that question,” he said.

On Tuesday, the Comelec 2nd division ruled that Poe is disqualified on ground of her supposed failure to satisfy the 10-year residency requirement for the presidency and over her questionable citizenship.
