Ateneo golfers continue dominance
It was a blue weekend for the golfers of Ateneo but of the good kind as they grabbed their fourth straight title and nine of 10 overall at the close of the 10th Ateneo-La Salle Golf Classic at the Club Filipino de Cebu golf course in Danao last weekend.
Playing in unfamiliar territory, the Ateneans still found their form from start to finish and ended the tournament with a final score of 64-40 over their counterparts from La Salle.
Bayani Garcia and Junrey Pelayo led the onslaught by contributing 10 each with low gross victories in class A and C, respectively. Garcia sizzled with a 5-under par 66 for the Class A romp, while Pelayo shot 80.
Ericka Lim was the lone rose among the thorns in class A but paid it no mind as she took the net honors with a 67.
La Salle took the remaining six and four points in Class A, as the runners-up were Jj Alvarez (69) and Fern Zaldarriaga (69).
Class B was no exception either as Jack Huang led the way with a 63, good for the lowest net award. Runner-up was also the only girl in the class, Alyeska Yunam of Ateneo de Cebu, who netted a 66. Tournament co-chariman Toby Florendo took 2nd-runner up with 67.
