Chinese deputy consul, finance officer dead in Cebu shooting
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Councilor Dave Tumulak, head of the Cebu City’s Command Center, confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Chinese deputy consul Sun Shan and finance officer Hui Li have died at a Cebu City hospital where they were rushed after they were shot at a restaurant.
The police said the two were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
He said Sun was hit in the neck and Li in the head during the shooting inside a function room of the Lighthouse Restaurant along General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City.
He said Sun was a deputy consul in the Chinese consulate in this city while Hui was the consulate’s finance officer.
Cebu’s Consul General Song Rong Hua, who was also wounded, was in stable condition, said Tumulak.

Article continues after this advertisementChief Insp. Romeo Santander, City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, said two suspects were detained. They were Li Qing Liang and his wife, Gou Jing.
Based on the footage of the closed circuit television camera, Li walked out of the restaurant shortly after the shooting. He left behind his firearm, a .45 caliber pistol. The firearm was later hidden by his wife.
The couple were arrested at the Chinese consulate office at the Cebu Business Park during a hot pursuit operation, said Santander. SFM
